The Children’s Program Aide assists with the implementation of psychoeducational groups and therapeutic activities, direct care, supervision and guidance to children living in the DVS Safe House and community clients.
The Advocate performs all duties and services in a manner that is trauma-informed, culturally competent and consistent with CAP/DVS mission and values.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and implement age appropriate enrichment activities for children, parent/child activities, and field trips.
Schedule special activities provided by community groups.
Co-facilitate the trauma and domestic violence informed psychoeducational group program for children residing at the DVS Safe House.
Work as a team with and provide guidance for DVS Family Program Volunteers.
Maintain a safe and clean play area at all times.
Responsible for the cleaning of children’s toys, equipment and the Children’s Wing.
Accurately perform all client and agency record-keeping as required.
Attend department and staff meetings as requested by supervisor.
Provide shift coverage for holidays and weekend on-call coverage as required.
Complete 10 hours of DV and victims’ services-related training annually
Qualifications & Job Factors

Diploma or GED.
At least one year of relevant experience working with children.
Commitment to providing trauma-informed services.
General proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet web-based applications.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Social justice mindset.
Strong desire to participate in and promote a trauma-informed, empowering culture that celebrates diversity.
Bilingual skills strongly preferred.
