Conducting tours in a timely manner through the Amish Farm House and tours through Lancaster County farmlands to educate our guests on the history, culture, and customs of the Amish in an accurate and respectful way.
* As a house tour guide, you will be taking groups of guests through each room of our farmhouse and teaching them about Amish history, religion and clothing.
* As a bus tour guide, you will be driving a 14-passenger van (no special license required) through the back roads of Amish County while simultaneously giving a tour.
*Responsibilities:*
* Drive a 14-passenger van through the back roads of Amish Country while simultaneously sharing facts about the Amish community.
During the tour, you will make stops at 2 Amish stores, showing guests around the stores to provide a great touring experience.
(90-minute tour)
* To conduct tours through a farmhouse while presenting cultural, and historical information about the Amish.
(40-minute tour)
* To collect tickets and direct guests to their seating when it’s your tour- bus or house.
* Present information clearly with good eye contact and a smile
* Answer questions or find the answers for our guests
* Present tour to any type of group including school children, foreign groups with a translator, and special needs groups.
* To operate registers in Gift Shop and assist customers in the purchase of any item we sell, help with restocking as well.
* Help with simple housekeeping chores.
*Opportunities will be available for extra hours including:*
* Special events
* Special Bus tours in off-hours
* Gift Shop inventory, housecleaning or sewing items for Gift Shop
*Education, Training, and Experience:*
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Training is done on the job.
Reading of any or all materials concerning Amish is encouraged.
* Experience with the Amish community is a huge plus, but not required.
*Job Requirements: *
* Should have a general knowledge of Lancaster county and its roads
* Experience with the Amish community is a bonus, but not required.
All training materials are provided.
* Must be 25 years of age and have a driver's license with a good driving record.
(If not 25, the house tour guide position is available)
* Must have good people skills: patience with customers
* Good communication skills: listening, oral, written.
* Must be flexible in job task / able to change direction quickly
* Good organizational and problem-solving skills
* Must be able to work weekend days and Holidays (not all, but a majority of them)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to $18.
00 per hour
