Lancaster County Career & Technology Center's Higher & Continuing Education Department has a vacancy beginning July 2024 for a Part-Time Adult Education Instructor to instruct Comm 175 (Public Speaking).
This position will be located at the Willow Street Campus and can be instructed either in person, hybrid or online.
JOB SUMMARY: The General Education Adjunct Instructor teaches assigned general education coursework in our Adult Degree programs.
This includes assisting in curriculum planning, including developing and implementing curriculum additions, deletions, and revisions for the assigned course.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS/FUNCTIONS: • Provide instruction and assess student knowledge for assigned course.
• Utilize Canvas (online student learnng system).
• Meet learning outcomes and objectives as stated in the curriculum • Supervise student involvement in practical work assignments and projects while assisting individual students with assignments and skill development to encourage successful attainment of program standards either in person, virtual or hybrid.
• Regularly and consistently monitor and record student performance in classroom/online and/or lab settings by means of standard instruments of evaluation and submit grades as required for assigned course.
• Actively participate in the institution’s assessment and evaluation efforts, especially related to the General Education course being taught.
• Adhere to, and promote academic policies, such as those relating to both institutional and programmatic requirements, grading and academic probation.
• Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for program functions, including instruction equipment and supplies, field trips, off-campus appointments, and special presentations to the students.
• Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with their supervisor and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.
• Support student compliance with institutional and department policies.
• Perform other duties as may occasionally be assigned by their supervisor.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 15 semester credits in the teaching discipline (e.
g.
English/Communication) • Adjuncts must be able to show a command of relevant theory and practice, and contemporary knowledge in the respective discipline.
• Some teaching experience is preferred.
