*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
Master’s degree in museum studies with an emphasis on curation, collections
1.
management, material culture, or similar.
2.
Minimum 3 years experience in collections management, curation, and exhibit design
3.
Effective project management and organizational skills
4.
Excellent research skills
5.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
6.
Ability to organize, present, and communicate messages effectively through design
7.
Strong computer skills, and knowledge of museum software (preferably Past Perfect)
8.
Ability to appropriately lead while also working well in a team context
9.
Provide own transportation between campuses; mileage reimbursement available
10.
Successfully pass all required child abuse clearances and background checks
Physical requirements: Full use of both hands and both arms.
Capable of seeing,

walking, standing, and moderate lifting (25 lbs).
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*
1.
Familiarity with material culture of Mennonites and Mennonite-related groups in
Southeastern PA
2.
Familiarity with Indigenous material culture and history in Southeastern PA
3.
General familiarity with Pennsylvania and regional Mennonite history
4.
Basic fluency in reading High German and German script
5.
Supervisory experience managing staff and volunteers
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:*
1.
Assess current state of collections on all campuses of Mennonite Life.
2.
Assure acquired artifacts fit within our collections scope and that they are accessioned and catalogued in a timely manner.
3.
Research, develop, lead, and produce exhibits.
These exhibits should make our collections accessible to the general public, educate, and tell compelling stories.
4.
Monitor and preserve existing artifact collections
5.
Provide ideas to Retail Specialist regarding possible collections- and exhibit-related products for museum stores.
6.
Maintain correct and up-to-date collection records through digital means.
7.
Recruit, manage, and thank volunteers and interns; coordinate staff assisting on specific strategic projects.
8.
Manage and document artifact loans in/out and transfers to or from our museum sites.
9.
Successfully represent Mennonite Life at professional meetings, networking events, and through professional presentations.
10.
Ensure artifact storage space is clean, well-organized, includes finding aids, and that our facilities are used in maximally efficient ways.
11.
Work constructively with the Collections Committee.

Supervise Archivist / Librarian
13.
Share leadership of Collections Department Meetings with Archivist / Librarian.
14.
Collaborate with other team members in the Collections Department to plan and carry out an annual “Collections Feature” event and at least one other event such as a skill-building workshop related to artifact care or similar.
Salary Range: $52,000 - $55,000
